Moving People Pirie is a 12 month pilot program funded by the Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure and commencing in November 2017. The pilot itself is overseen by a Regional Accessibility Committee (RAC) that is made up of local stakeholders including service providers, (bus, taxi, car and any other options), local government, health, ageing and schooling service providers.
The RAC will meet regularly from early in 2018, and has a key role in matching vehicles and peoples’ journeys, finding ways to support trips that might not have been previously made.
The trial came about after research conducted by Bus SA and the Bus Industry Confederation in 2016 on behalf of the State Government.
Local Member for Frome, Geoff Brock MP, played a key role in encouraging the State Government to review the region to identify transport and accessibility needs, leading to strengthening the region’s transport resources. He is a strong supporter of Moving People Pirie and its work.
